Mercà is a service and a smartphone application for the direct selling of fresh food local food. It aims to establish a direct relationship between consumers and growers/suppliers in order to make people aware of the importance of their choices. The service scouts for and collects small farmers and other direct suppliers around Italy according to three main values: Good, Clean and Right.
Using Mercà’s smartphone application consumers can buy the food only from the direct suppliers close to them. The application offers consumers a tool set for buying the products and suggesting how to use products found in the local market. It allows suppliers to easily display their products, to receive and manage purchase requests, and thus to manage their stock.
Mercà puts the spotlight on suppliers to make them responsible for their products. The application’s interface was therefore inspired by the street market structure, where each merchant has his or her own stall.
