This software aggregates people, who doesn’t know each other, having dinner in their respective houses. How can you grant the safety of your users?
Only university students can join
To create an account you need to have a university e-mail. This can prevent fake accounts and select a specific range of users.
Relationship map
You can check a user’s relationships with other people in the community. For example, if you see that a user is a friend of your friends you may feel safer contacting him/her.
Report bad behaviour
After a user has been reported three times for misbehaving he will be banned from the community.
***
In the beginning we thought about restricting the use of What’s cooking? to a very small group (like IUAV students, or even just to a specific faculty students), but it would have been too narrow and the chances to actually meet new people too low. We preferred to enlarge the access to all the university students in Venice, leaving to each user the choise to “risk” and invite someone they don’t know, or to contact only people that are related to their friends.
