Brainstorming
In the beginning, when we were asked to think and design the concept for a social-capital application, there wasn’t any Snowball: we purpoused other types of applications with interesting ideas, but still with a strong presence of a database-like structure. First brainstorming in fact brought us to think to applications to help people spread their experiences, students manage their stuff or venetians and tourists find the closest wc. All the application were interesting and nice, but for technical reasons too much difficoult to build.
Video prototype and storyboard
Later, in one of the first crits we presented a video-prototype and a storyboard, which helped us to define better the mechanism and the social influence of the application.

Flowcharts
Designing snowball since the first steps required much attention and a high use of flowchart. In fact before starting to code the application it is good to write down all the possilbe situations and try to organize them on flowcharts, which are powerful instruments that give a whole and complete overview of the connections between user interaction and application behaviors.
