The early experiments were based on sound: our user’s attention would be caught by sounds, a bell ringing for instance, performed once the sensor has detected the user’s passage. The video and the Flash prototype here below, show how we imagined the interaction at the beginning of our design process. The first prototype was made in cardboard and paper: a quick and effective way to design and test the interaction possibilities.
The Flash prototype was an important tool that helped us to understand all the possible behaviours of people passing through the colonnade (try the interaction using the Flash prototype here below: pick up the red ball with your mouse and move it as you like. The yellow line represents the sensitive line of the sensors when an user passes through the colonnade).
The two simulations of interaction below represent, on the real site, what happens in the Flash prototype; we used them to see what was the effect of our idea projected in reality.
