We are almost satisfied about the Coro Pisani project to see it really working on Campo Pisani, in front of the music academy in Venice, would be very satisfying.
We could to improve the installation with two ways:
1. Now it has the chords track for the first user and the solo rhythm track for a second and third user. We want to define a balance control for the stereo channel. It would work by calculating the centroid of the area defined by the position of the other users. Coordinates of the centroid will give a value for the balance. For example, if people are all playing on the left, the stereo channel will be turned to left. So all users together would work as a knob.
2. We thought to program the installation to send signals even when nobody is using it. The installation, after a period of inactivity, would send as output short audio tracks of singers who prepare their voices, as singers do before a performance. This would raise curiosity and interest any people walking near.
Although we think everything works quite well, some little things can be corrected:
-a bug in the software doesn’t allow to delete immediately a past blob detected, creating something that we’ve called “ghosts”;
-the interaction is not so intuitive for an new user. Tests with users could reveal better solutions;
-the graphics, as the interaction, could work better testing different solutions on users;
-the music tracks, now loaded in Processing as MP3 files, could be replaced with a MIDI library inside Processing. This allows better quality and ease of use;
